Architecturally speaking, the term “process” refers to the steps involved in developing a design—a solution to the problem. At Perkins Eastman, process casts a much wider net and precedes the project by redefining the problem then following a deductive path that begins with research into the general issues of a building type: the unique needs of the client and the people who will use it; the possibilities for innovation; technological advancements and sustainable design principles; and both the limitations and opportunities provided by the site and context. This process assumes that the challenge of the project is often discovering how to go beyond the conventional solution. What results is a true synthesis of programmatic requirements, context, and innovative design that is sensitively integrated in its physical, cultural, and natural environments.
MY PROJECTS, ARCHITECTURAL WORKS, PROJECT PROPOSALS, SKETCHES AND ALL ABOUT ARCHITECTURE - Architecture,is the art of composing spaces in response to existing environmental and urbanistic conditions to answer a client's needs. In this way the building becomes the resolution between its inner being and the outer conditions imposed upon it. It is never solitary but is part of its setting and thus must blend in a timeless way with its surroundings yet show its own fresh presence.
MY PHILOSOPHY
- ARCH. RALPH
- I wanted to become an architect to help people. People need well designed shelter for themselves, families, businesses and all type of endeavour that requires sheltered space. Architecture has the power to create beautifully effective shelter for the needs, hopes, dreams and memories of humankind, both collectively and individually. This design philosophy is an attempt to reconcile and bring design factors into an equilibrium, and create a NEW "architectural gestalt", to transcend architectural fashion. A treatise to explain and understand why it is necessary to intellectually balance design factors empowering all architects and designers to create a built environment that transcends the sum of its individual parts. The past comments of great architects including the International Style Architect Mies Van der Rohe inspire me to explore this. Humbly, I have come to better understand his design struggle. Mies said architecture is great "only when it is an expression of its time. Architecture is the battleground. It is a struggle to find the essential factors.
